Proposal at Westlake Village Inn gazebo, rose petals

She had no idea what was coming — the whole point of a proposal shot is that you get exactly one chance to catch the reaction, no retakes, no "can you do that again." I stayed back near the gazebo's entrance, wide enough to keep both of them in frame the second he dropped to a knee, so I wouldn't be scrambling to reposition when it actually happened.

The moment played out under the gazebo at Westlake Village Inn, one of the venue's signature ceremony spots, with a heart of rose petals already laid out on the ground before they walked in — planned in advance, timed so it'd be the first thing she saw once she realized what was happening.

Proposals are the kind of session where experience matters most — you don't get a second take on a ring coming out, which is exactly why I treat every proposal session like there's only one shot that counts, because there is.

Location: Westlake Village, CA.
